Special Financial Appeal - brother Keith Henderson

13th December 2013

Special Financial Appeal - brother Keith Henderson

As you will be aware the GMB union was found to have discriminated against LRC member Keith Henderson for his philosophical beliefs in left wing democratic socialism. This had played a significant part in his dismissal.

Keith was employed as a Regional Organiser by the GMB London region. The tribunal also found that he had suffered harassment while in the employment of the GMB for being a left wing socialist.

The employer has lodged an appeal against Keith and Keith has had to put in a counter appeal.

As a result of the fact that he has secured a job on a rate of pay just above the minimum wage which he is due to start shortly, and the new regulations covering employment appeals tribunals costs, Keith has to find £1,200 to pay for the hearing fee.

The introduction of such costs is designed to favour employers by pricing workers out of the justice system, which is what will happen to Keith if we cannot raise this money for him.

We are therefore asking for your help by making a donation to the Keith Henderson Defence Fund.

If you wish to make a donation please email us at or send a cheque made payable to: LRC
                            at: PO Box 2378
                                London E5 9QU.

Make it clear that money is for the Keith Henderson Defence Fund.

We urge all LRC members that support Keith in this struggle to express their support by making a donation.

Yours in Solidarity,

Labour Representation Committee

By Ian Hodson It’s great news that a mainstream political party has recognised the importance of taking positive action to raise pay. Since 2008, politicians from all parties along with many in the media, have pushed the narrative that society will somehow improve by imposing austerity and blaming minority groups for the state of the country’s finances. Sadly, many have fallen for this deception and the ‘look over there’ politics that has rose to prominence since the Conservatives returned to power in 2010. [continue...]

Rail bosses are using the recession as an excuse to attack jobs and conditions and cut back on services and essential rail works, and hike rail fares - as LEAP research suggested they would. Thousands of jobs are being threatened or have been lost. At the same time rail fat cats are raking in big profits and bonuses on the back of the most expensive fares in Europe. Make no mistake: as the recession worsens so will the attack on rail workers and rail services. [continue...]
