London MPs call on Mayor to keep London Living Wage promise for tube cleaners

London Labour MPs will today hand in a letter to Mayor Boris Johnson at City Hall, calling on him to fund the London Living Wage for all London Underground cleaners. The LRC has welcomed the occupation of the School of African and Oriental Studies (SOAS) in Bloomsbury, London. Construction lobby - fighting for trade union rights

Clear evidence emerged recently that several major construction companies had been blacklisting workers for trade union activity. Under the Employment Relations Act 1999, the government has the power to introduce regulations prohibiting the blacklisting of workers for their union membership or activities, and now finally, the Government has indicated that after a short consultation it will legislate in the autumn. [continue...]
