Left Platform meeting still on

Tuesday May 12th from 6.30pm to 8.30pm at Mander Hall,
Hamilton House, Mabledon Place, London WC1H 9BD

Thursday’s shattering election result means that the meeting of the Left Platform on Tuesday 12 May is critically important.
With the Tories returning with an overall majority, the threat to our people is greater than ever.
There are clearly dark days ahead.
It is even more important therefore that the Left meets to discuss what faces us now and what role we have to play in resisting what inevitably will be a programme of cuts, privatisation and attacks on trade union rights and basic civil liberties.
In view of what we face, we have to resist any feelings of despondency and get on with the job of organising the resistance to the Tories plans and determining the role the Left now has to play.

Rail bosses are using the recession as an excuse to attack jobs and conditions and cut back on services and essential rail works, and hike rail fares - as LEAP research suggested they would. Thousands of jobs are being threatened or have been lost. At the same time rail fat cats are raking in big profits and bonuses on the back of the most expensive fares in Europe.
