Labour left -wing calls for anti-austerity measures

Alarmed at the drift of young voters and opponents of austerity to perceived more radical parties, such as the Green Party and the SNP, the Labour Representation Committee( London Region) calls for a clear sharpening of Labour policies to reflect the anger of working people and the need to ensure Coalition policies are reversed.
London LRC Organiser, Graham Durham, said ‘Many young people and working -class voters want a radical offer of socialist policies which offer hope,jobs and rights to all.We want a Labour Party to reflect this,and, for example, would like to see an end to PFI payments and private profit takers in our public service.’

Since 2008, politicians from all parties along with many in the media, have pushed the narrative that society will somehow improve by imposing austerity and blaming minority groups for the state of the country’s finances. Rail bosses are using the recession as an excuse to attack jobs and conditions and cut back on services and essential rail works, and hike rail fares - as LEAP research suggested they would. Thousands of jobs are being threatened or have been lost. At the same time rail fat cats are raking in big profits and bonuses on the back of the most expensive fares in Europe.
