Jeremy Corbyn to Run for Labour Leader

Jeremy Corbyn to Run for Labour Leader

Jeremy has said he will run for the party leadership on a “clear anti-austerity platform”.

Corbyn told the ‘Islington Tribune’: “This decision to stand is in response to an overwhelming call by Labour Party members who want to see a broader range of candidates and a thorough debate about the future of the party.
“I am standing to give Labour Party members a voice in this debate.”

He is a senior member of the Socialist Campaign Group in the Commons and has vowed to vote against the renewal of Trident.

Corbyn said the four already declared candidates were too similar, adding: “They are not offering a clear enough alternative on the economic strategy and austerity, and our attitude to welfare expenditure.”

The good news is that the Bakers’ Union (BFAWU) has already endorsed Jeremy’s leadership bid.

He needs the sponsorship of more MPs to get on the ballot. Contact your MP and tell them to nominate Jeremy. Don’t let them get away with taking a decision without the support and approval of the constituency Labour Party that selected them.

Jeremy’s campaign has also received the endorsement of Owen Jones in the ‘Guardian’.
