Labour has now lost control of Derbyshire, Lancashire, Nottinghamshire and Staffordshire as the Party’s vote has collapsed. It is now clear that Labour is facing the prospect of annihilation in a General Election.
John McDonnell MP, LRC Chair, said:
“It is clear from the results that Labour is facing annihilation. Reshuffles will not be enough. Labour now needs a wholesale and urgent change in policy if the Party is to avoid wipeout at the next General Election.
“Labour voters are peeling off in all directions - which shows there is no automatic transfer to the Conservatives, but also shows that with a radical change of policy there could be all to play for.”
