The LRC is paying tribute to the life of Jack Jones, former leader of the Transport & General Workers Union, who fought in the Spanish Civil War in the 1930s, and after he stepped down as a trade union leader became President of the National Pensioners’ Convention.
John McDonnell MP, LRC Chair, said:
“Jack Jones was a courageous working class leader who throughout his life held to his principles of socialism, peace and trade union rights. He will be remembered for his lifelong campaigning, for decent pensions and trade union rights.
“He will be sorely missed as an example of working class leadership that is needed today as much as ever.”
