Welsh Tories and Surprise Birthday Letters…

I woke up today and went to open the post and noticed a letter addressed to me. I thought it was another finance drive by David Blunkett, or my bank notifying me of my minus balance. But no, it was from Simon Hart, my local Tory PPC.

I have to confess, I was rather scared at first, because I do not know how the Welsh Conservatives got their hands on my address, nor do I know how they know my rather obscure middle names. So much for party of civil liberties then.

The letter basically said ‘Happy 18th’, now please vote for us, with a questionnaire attached. These sorts of personal letters have appeared where Mr. Ashcroft is financing and co-ordinating, so do I wonder if Michael has something to do with it.

I decided to fill it out in the end, listing affordable housing and employment, etc, as things affecting me. However, Question 9. ‘what do you think the priorities of the next Prime Minister should be?’, was probably the most interesting one.

To this I answered ‘To secure to the workers, by hand or by brain, the full fruits of their industry and the most equitable distribution thereof that may be possible, on the basis of the common ownership of the means of production, distribution and exchange and the best obtainable system of popular administration and control of each industry or service’.

I’m not really sure what they’ll make of it.  We’ll have to wait and see if I get a reply.

This is standard labour reply I would have given the same, but sadly writing this to the Tories would be ignored, as it would be if you sent it to new labour. I take it you will be voting labour at the next election, sadly I cannot for the life of me.

I’ve spent a life time in the Labour party joining and also believing in the socialist movement, sadly I left in 2005, because in the end I saw nothing for me within labour, I walked out so did a lot of others, my area is a coal mining steel making area which has now all gone. MY MP was new labour then found out she started to drop votes, and it’s now under threat to lose a 108 years of labour rule as Plaid move up.

I notice after voting on everything Blair asked her, war in Iraq, 90 day detention you name it she voted for it, all of a sudden she is a socialist, her expenses record are max out.

Sadly for me I had no choice but to walk away from Labour and it looks more and more like I will be voting against labour for the first time in my life.

It’s a shame labour picked Blair, and sadly we allowed the deal to be done with brown, because in my area he is disliked as much as Blair
